Scheduling and Organizing.
Hey gang,
Quick post this evening. I spent the day doing a few different things in preparation for the upcoming release-a-palooza
- Finding and Organizing my short stories
- scheduling a release schedule for completed works and upcoming works
- covers, covers, covers.
- YouTube title pages
Saturday saw the last of what I’d already recorded for Short Story Saturday. That means I need a new title page for the upcoming releases. I got that done.
I sat down with the Mrs and My Favorite Daughter to go over design ideas for all the short stories I have so I can set up a release schedule. MFD will be doing the design and I think it’s a really cool idea. I’m excited to get the covers and start prepping the short stories.
Each short story will have a release and I will collect 9 short stories into a bundle, anthology, collection, whatever you’d like to call it. Going through my current short stories, I have over 100, 30 of which are, I feel, are good enough to publish.
On top of that, I have 10 of the 12 book covers I need for works I hope to complete this year. I did some tweaking on ones I’d already done. I’m happy with the 10 I have done and will finish the other two soon enough.
Finally, I started working on the release schedule. If I stay on target for 2021 and write the 5 books I intend to finish this year, I will have 45 weeks where I’ll have a release every single week. I know I’ve discussed this before, but looking at this all laid out…holy carp. ebook title, ebook short story, print book, ebook short story. 11 books, 22 short stories. That’s what I’ve got planned and it all looks very VERY possible at this point.
What am I doing now?
Right now, I’m working on finishing the book covers, getting the short story covers, and I’ll get to work on the interiors and get those done. THEN, I’m back to cranking out the books. Putting all this preliminary work behind me will set me up so that I can work on Rule #4: Put out what you’ve finished. That’s my goal.
So much of this work has been sitting gathering dust. A couple of the short stories I’ll be publishing were in anthologies and I’ve gotten the rights back to do what I wish with them. And keep in mind, that this is just the current schedule. I’m fully capable of writing a book every 2 months and it’s possible I’ll keep going when we get to the end of what I currently have done and what I’m planning.
Is this schedule ambitious? Oh, hell yes. I have a full-time job, a family, and other obligations. But it’s time I put my plan to action. I’ve been wanting to do something like this for several years now. It’s time.
I’ve set the date to drop the first work as 5/5/2021. This gives me a 60 day buffer before the madness begins. My hope is I’ll have a lot of this work scheduled so it’ll drop automatically. As I finish books, I’ll get them uploaded and scheduled as well. I can’t tell you how excited I am to see this plan laid out. It’s become more and more of a reality the more I look at it. I almost can’t believe it’s happening.
I’m off to rest and relax my brain.
Until Next Time!
Stay Awesome!
