![VIDEO] Nine Perfect Strangers Trailer: Nicole Kidman Series Adaptation | TVLine](https://tvline.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/nine-perfect-strangers-key-art.jpg)
Tonight the Mrs asked me if I wanted to watch a comedy movie. At least, that’s what I heard. It’s got Nicole Kidman and Melissa McCarthy. Whelp, I like both those actresses, so why not. We’ve been watching too much news lately, so we should watch something together.
First, we had to sign up for a free month of Hulu. Install the app on the Fire TV. Then we could search on Nine Perfect Strangers.
Yes, it has both Melissa and Nicole. There’s also a wonderful supporting cast. I did, however, notice when I started the “movie” that it was Season 1: Episode 1. Well, I’m still in. Seems like it could be funny as McCarthy is hilarious.
No. There are funny parts in the three episodes we watched. It’s not a comedy. This show is dark in tone, but beautiful cinematography. The banter between the cast is great. The content, though, is far from what I was expecting.
Let’s set this up. Nine guests are on their way to a “resort”. All are headed there for different reasons. Some know it’s expensive, but worth it. One family is on there way for help and therapy. There’s a millionaire who made his money winning the lotto. An Instagram influencer. A writer (McCarthy). An ex-football player who’s injuries have put him out to pasture.
Then there’s Kidman who runs the facility with a staff of either 3 or 4. I keep losing count. I think it’s four. Their relationship with each other isn’t the same around the guests as it is in private. So much is going on behind the scenes.
I won’t go into more detail as this show is only 3 episodes in and, darn it, now I’m hooked and I have to wait a week for the next episode. Guess I’ll need to go read a book.
