Daily Update: NaNoWriMo Day 20

Holy Carp! what a busy couple of days. My favorite daughter had a private lesson yesterday. Went to the movies. There were things to do and people to see. I feel like I was running in circles all day.

Plus I was still a ways behind on my NaNoWriMo target. I’m still behind, but now I’m only 600 words behind and not 3000 words behind. The past two days I’ve written 2700 words then 2900 words. That helps a little bit. I should be able to get caught up today and I’ll have tomorrow morning to stay on track.

Since I’m writing fast and furious for NaNoWriMo, I’m looking at December for as an editing month. If all goes well I’ll be editing Astel, V&A Shipping, Paradise Palms, Of Gnomes and Dwarves, Billy Barbarian, and Jack Kane. Yes, that’s a heavy load for one month, but I need to get things prepared for 2013. I have a cover artist lined up and I’ll be re-wrapping Astel and getting covers for each of those other books. I wanted editing done 1st. I’ve already gotten edits back for all but Jack Kane (I need to do some re-writes) but once I have the edits done, I can get them into createspace so I can figure out the bind size, and then start working with the cover artist to develop logos for each series (except Jack Kane). Jack will be the stand out here.

My plan is to develop a minor logo for each series as well as developing an icon for each character to start the chapters. Once I have the books ready in cretespace, and I have them available in KDP for ebooks, I’ll work on recording audio. Yes, I’m going to 100% redo each book I’ve already done.

Yes, I’m being ambitious. I want to record every book in as short a time as possible. Once I’ve got the audio 100% done and a book ready to go, THEN I’ll schedule a release date. This will likely be 30 days out from when I have everything completed. This will give me time to send out ARCs, schedule all the blog posts, make sure the stars align, then BAM! Off it goes. That month will also allow me to prepare for getting the next book set up and ready to go.

Of course I’ll need to try and schedule interviews, a blog tour, all that fun stuff. The more I think about it, the more exicted I get. How excited? Excited enough to be writing nearly 3000 words a day. I hope to hit that number again today. This will get me ahead on my nanowrimo goal.

I’m excited about writing more than I’ve ever been because I can see where I’m going now. I’m not just plodding forward putting words down and hoping for the best. I’m looking at my completed works as products that I can release onto the world and THEN hope for the best. I’ll be producing more work then ever before and getting it out there as quickly as I can. It’s not that I’m skimping on the quality of what I’ll be putting out (like the first time I got Astel out). I’m making sure all my ducks are in a row before I even set a release date.

How excited am I? So excited that I almost forgot that I crossed the 440,000 word mark last night. That’s right. I’m not less than 10,000 words away from hitting my word goal for the year. I’m doing some fidgiting and preparing for what I’ll do next year and December will be a very busy month.

Right now my plan is to try and write 2000 words per day during weekdays. That means I’m shooting for 10,000 words a week of new fiction. Not just new words (like these blog posts) but new words of fiction. That with an aggressive release schedule means I’ll be one busy boy next year. And you know what, I don’t care. I’m excited to finally be getting this fiction out into the world. I think I tell a good story and I hope you’ll be along for the ride.

I need to stop talking about how excited I am to be doing this and actually start doing it!

Until Tomorrow!

WOO WOO!
