Today is the day!

Today is the day! GRPC2 drops. The madness begins. I’m nervous. I’m excited. I feel like throwing up. I’m a mixed bag of emotion.
At the same time, I know I’m back at the starting line on this journey. Yes, I’ve other books out there. I get that. I don’t have a built in fan base that’s grown over the years. Many people have disappeared or forgotten all about little old me. So, I’ve set my expectations low. Quite low. If I sell one book, I’ll be amazed. I honestly will. This isn’t my first time on this roller coaster.
But this time, things will be different. I’m doing all I can to make sure everything continues to move forward. I’m reading, researching, and expanding my base. Right now, that’s all I can do. Put out a book, get the next one ready for release. Keep the machine well-greased, and put content out.
That’s what I’m doing.
Here is the link to the new book: https://smile.amazon.com/Villain-Giant-Robot-Planetary-Competition-ebook/dp/B093ZLVVSP

The links are on the main page of the blog, in the show notes of the video, in this show notes of the audio. I’m going to post on all my social media. I’m not going to be spammy about it, but going to get word out as best I can.
I’m off to go write up a NewsLetter and let everyone signed up there know there’s a new book out.
Until Next Time!

The Prospect of Failure

One of the biggest things I fear as an artist is failure. I know I’m not alone. Confidence issues happen to every artist I know. The strangest thing is that every artist I know sees failure differently.
It could come as a 1-star review. It could be a negative reaction to some specific aspect of the work. It could come in any number of ways.
My job, as a writer, isn’t to entertain everyone that reads my work. My job is to produce the best content I can and let people find it.
Today I spent a little time going through reviews of all my works. There aren’t many. It’s easy to go through them all if I chose to. What I was looking for wasn’t how many negative reviews I had or how many positive reviews I had. That wasn’t the goal. What I was looking for was, did the reviews get better over time? Had I improved?
Now, there were a lot of people that LOVED V&A Shipping back in the day when I produced it in audio. When I released it in print and ebook, it got a lukewarm response, at best. I hadn’t been expecting that. What was different?
My first version, the audio, didn’t have any typos…that listeners could see. I could fix grammar and spelling as I read it out loud. Again, to the best of my abilities at the time.
I’ve said this many many times, but it bears repeating. You can’t get worse at something if you keep doing it. I say this repeatedly to reinforce it with myself. You can reach a plateau and that’s where learning from others comes in handy. Reading is a great exercise. Learning from someone who’s successful at what you want to do is invaluable.
At any rate, got a super late start this evening. I’m crazy tired and it’s time to get to bed.
5/5/2021 GRPC 2 will drop. I will make certain to provide lots of links to the ebook when it’s available.
Until Next Time!

Lazy Sunday? I don’t think so!

First off, I forgot to mention that yesterday we hit 100 consecutive blog posts.
And there was much rejoicing.
That said, I spent the day going through each short story that I’ve uploaded to make certain everything is correct. Found some issues, because of course I did, and made corrections. All is well now.
Wednesday GRPC2 will drop, for those excited about that. This will be the ebook edition. The print edition, which I’m still preparing, will drop on 6/2. Then we will have V&A Shipping 3 on 6/30 for the ebook and 7/28 for the print book.
That’s the only sneak peek at the schedule you get. 🙂 After that, it’s fun time!
I was going to write a bit, but my brain is tired. I’m watching some Sealab 2021. I caught a couple of episodes of this when it aired. It’s funny enough to keep me occupied, and with 10 minute episodes, the shortness that I need right now.
We’ll return with 5 a day with Jay tomorrow.
Birds of Prey

I’ve watched most of the DC movies. I don’t know why I subject myself to them. They look nice, but the stories are always awful. It’s almost as if the person working on the story read the wiki page, thinks they know the highlights of the characters and throws something together the night before.
This one is different. It’s got a simple plot, there are flashbacks that fill things in. I guess you could say the story makes sense.
I’ve never been a big fan of the DC Comics. Not sure why. This movie, for me, is the best DC movie I’ve seen as far as the story goes. Good cast, decent effects.
But there’s something about this one I can’t nail down. Someday I may figure it out.
If you liked it, and the DC movies, I’m glad. I’d never deny someone a movie that makes them happy. For me, this one was alright. Perhaps it’s because the Suicide Squad movie (for me) was so awful despite having an all-star cast.

No 5 a Day tonight.

I’m having some side effects from shot #2. High fever, body aches, headache. Going to do self care tonight and get back at it tomorrow.
