Daily Update: I relaxed and went to the movies
Yesterday was one of those days that I just could not motivate myself to do anything. I watched a couple TV shows with the Wife, dropped off my Favorite Daughter at a friend’s house for a party, and watched a few of my TV shows.
I made it through the last couple episodes of Ancient Aliens. I really like the episodes where they go into the archeology over the ones where they cover religious texts. A building is something you can see, a text is something that’s translated from one language to another and a lot is lot in age and translation. Massive, unexplained megalithic structures are frickin awesome! Words written down ages ago that are now (for the most part) considered mythology, not so much.
I also watched a National Geographic special on pyramids in China. Being that I wrote a short story for the Ministry of Peculiar Occurrences that relates to the burial mound of the First Emperor of China I though it would be good to rewatch that and make sure I had my facts correct. I did. 🙂
Then there was some dinner eaten and I went and saw this little movie called Prometheus. I went with the Millican, his boy, and his older daughter’s boyfriend. There will be a review later today on that one. Might contain spoilers, might not. We’ll see.
Today will be another lazy day. I will work out. I will write some. I will watch a few more TV shows. There’s a lot of writing to do, and I will get to it. Fear not. I’ve got a lot of day left, so I think I’ll get to it.

Daily Update: Things happen when you’re not looking
I now have two secret projects I cannot talk about yet. There is a lot going on behind the scenes that once I can talk about them, you’ll be just as excited as I am about them. Even though I won’t always post about everything I’m doing (or I’ll repeat myself from time to time) doesn’t mean new things aren’t happening.
Writing: Didn’t happen much last night. Okay, happened very little in fact. I intend to correct that tonight. My favorite daughter had volleyball practice last night so that ate into my writing time. I also spent some time with the wife because it was, after all, Valentine’s. The rest of my writing time was eaten up by discussing a certain project that will come to light in the near future.
Action Pack: Mike Plested has written up the promo. Now it’s just a matter of recording and producing it. All three of us will have parts and from the initial ideas we had, it’s going to be awesome. Heck, from what I’ve read from the other two stories, the entire Action Pack will be filled with awesome! I hope you’ll be there to join us. I’ve been bugging Dan Dan the Art Man and he assures me I’ll have my cover graphic tonight. I should have my page up over on the web site tomorrow.
More Writing: I’m going to try for a few days in a row of 2000 words of fiction. Why? I need to get caught up and/or ahead of my writing goal and I have a couple very hot projects that I need to get under way. I’ve been way too lax with my writing (in my own opinion) and even though I’ve been blogging daily, I haven’t been writing fiction daily. I need to correct that.
Jack Kane: Edits are under way and plotting of the second book are also under way. This is a fun story and the sequel is mapping out to also be a lot of fun to write. Jack, Betsy, Felonious and his minions, are all great characters and just easy to write. Mike Plested and I are having too much fun and I can’t wait until this falls into the hands of readers.
Distractions: I’ve been distracted by Ancient Aliens and not because I subscribe to their belief, but because I find their point of view fascinating. It doesn’t matter what you believe in, it’s easy to poke holes in any theory, faith, belief. I never try to argue with what another person believes because faith and belief are personal. I just like to observe and from that observation, a billion story ideas come bursting forth. *note, I used to argue with people’s faith but once someone says “I believe…” the argument is over because facts no longer play a part in the argument. #justsaying. I find it best to listen, insert comments, and avoid confrontation. It never ends pretty.
More Distractions: I’m not a big TV watcher. There are a few shows I love. Big Bang Theory, Two and a Half Men (not so much with the loss of Charlie), Gold Rush (what? You’re not watching this show?), Storage Wars, Shipping Wars, and that’s about it. I’m not big on any on going series and will usually pick up a show once it’s run its life. Like the aforementioned Ancient Aliens. I used to watch any Sci Fi shows on TV, but got frustrated with half a season or one open ended season and then nothing. So I stopped putting effort into anything else TV has to offer. For now, I’m directing that energy back into writing.
Speaking of writing.

Daily Update: Onsite Training
I had intended to get two short stories assembled and up yesterday. Well, that didn’t happen. Sorry about that. They’ll be coming very soon. Spell checker got me and that was my fault. I hope to have the stories up later today.
We got our rental car last night. It’s pretty nice. My favorite daughter loves the back-up camera. I found it distracting, but hey, I’m old school and use my mirrors. I’ll be driving that to my training class in my steel-toed boots. I feel like I’ve got 2 ton weights on my feet. I’m a flip-flop kind of guy. I’ll be bringing those along with me to change after the class.
My training class today is pole climbing, ladders, wires, etc. I’ve been through it once before. We’ll get to look at the trucks we’ll be working in, but not actually use them. It’ll mostly consist of how to climb a pole, how to secure a ladder to a pole or wire to perform work and how to keep yourself secure while doing these tasks. I’m actually a little excited to be heading out. I sit behind a desk all day and though I love my job, it’s always nice to do something different once in a while.
Why am I doing this training? I can’t actually discuss that here. Internal company business and all that. I will be going to another onsite training in the middle of March. I’ll actually have to travel to that one for a few days.
Tomorrow I should have Sputtery Truck back. I haven’t heard anything from the person working on it which I hope is a good thing. He said he’d call if they found anything else that needed replacing. I’m hopeful that means all is going well and Sputtery Truck will be happy to see me tomorrow afternoon.
I started watching a show (it’s a 2010 show, but I just found it) called Ancient Aliens. Tomorrow I’ll see if I can find the link to the show. It’s pretty interesting. I can easily spot where they’re making a huge leap of faith, but there are some very interesting aspects to the show. I watched one last night about underwater cities that pretty much blew my mind. Aliens or not, those cities were built long before man was supposed to have built cities. I’ll ramble more on that tomorrow. Suffice to say, the show is great fodder for stories if you believe what’s said in the shows or not.
